What to wear on a yacht party in Dubai

Short answer: Smart-casual resort wear in light, breathable fabrics: linen, summer dresses, shorts or wide trousers. Come in the shoes you like, as the crew keeps them on board and yachts are enjoyed barefoot. Bring swimwear for a daytime charter and a light layer for sunset and evening charters from November to March.
The simple rule: smart-casual, light and easy to move in
A private yacht party in Dubai has no official dress code: you are on your own yacht, with your own guests. What works best is smart-casual resort wear: linen shirts, light dresses, shorts or wide trousers, in fabrics that breathe. Think beach club rather than nightclub. Avoid anything you would not want splashed by sea spray, and anything too tight to sit, climb a few steps or dance on a moving deck.
Shoes: come in what you like
Yachts are enjoyed barefoot, to protect the teak decks and for everyone’s safety. Come in the shoes you like, heels included: our crew keeps them safe on board and gives them back when you step off. Flat sandals are the easiest to slip on and off at the marina.
What to wear by time of day
| Charter | What works | Bring |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime (swim stop) | Swimwear under a light cover-up, shorts, linen, a kaftan | Sunglasses, a hat, reef-friendly sunscreen |
| Sunset (4 pm to 8 pm) | Light dresses, linen shirts and chinos, sandals | A light layer for after sunset |
| Evening and dinner | Smart-casual: a summer dress or jumpsuit, a shirt with chinos | A wrap or light jacket from November to March |
| New Year’s Eve | Cocktail and festive: sequins, satin, a sharp shirt or blazer | A warm layer: the sea breeze is cool at midnight |
What to wear by season
From November to March, Dubai days are warm and evenings at sea are cool, often around 20°C with a breeze on the water: bring a wrap, a light knit or a jacket for a sunset or evening charter. From April to October, it is hot and humid even at night: choose the lightest fabrics, and plan swim stops and shade. See the best time for a yacht cruise in Dubai.

Themes and dress codes for your guests
A dress code makes the photos. The favourites on our yachts: all white for a summer or sunset party, white and gold for a birthday, pastels or a bride-in-white theme for a bachelorette yacht party, black tie light for a gala dinner, and sparkle for New Year’s Eve on a yacht. Put it on the invitation, and we can match the decor, flowers and napkins to it.
Swimwear and the swim stop
Most daytime charters include a swim stop: wear your swimwear under your outfit, or change on board. Towels are already on board. Swimming is possible until 6 pm. Water toys such as a jet ski can be added to your charter.
What to avoid
Very long trains and heavy fabrics, which catch the wind and the steps; and valuables you would not want near the water. For the marina walk, a cover-up over swimwear is the respectful choice in Dubai.
