There is no strict dress code at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but what works in a grandstand at 2 pm is not what works on a superyacht at midnight. Here is how to dress for the 2026 race weekend, Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December, depending on where you watch.

The weather in early December

December is one of the most pleasant months in Abu Dhabi: warm and sunny in the afternoon, cooler once the sun goes down, with a breeze on the water. The evening sessions and the race run under the lights, and the after-race concerts finish late, so plan for both.

At the circuit: grandstands and Abu Dhabi Hill

  • Light, breathable clothes, a cap and sunglasses for the afternoon
  • Comfortable shoes: you will walk a lot between the gates, fan zones and stages
  • A light jacket or sweater for the evening and the concerts
  • Team colours are welcome; keep outfits respectful of local customs in public areas

Hospitality and suites: smart casual

In suites and hospitality lounges, smart casual is the norm: chinos or tailored trousers and a shirt or polo, a dress or a smart jumpsuit. Jackets are optional. Some companies dress their hosts in matching brand colours for photos.

On a superyacht in Yas Marina: resort chic

On board, think resort chic: linen, light fabrics, summer dresses, shirts. The day starts at 1 pm in the sun and ends at 2 am after the concerts, so bring a layer for the evening on deck.

  • Shoes: most yachts ask guests to go barefoot or wear soft, flat soles on deck to protect the teak. Leave the stilettos for the concert; we confirm the rule for your yacht with your booking
  • Sun: sunglasses and sunscreen for the sundeck in the afternoon
  • Evening: a light jacket, wrap or sweater for the breeze after sunset
  • Themes: a private yacht can set its own dress code, from all-white to team colours

Questions

Is there a dress code at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?

There is no strict dress code at the circuit. Casual and comfortable works in the grandstands, smart casual in suites and hospitality, and resort chic on a superyacht in Yas Marina. Keep outfits respectful of local customs in public areas.

What should I wear on a yacht at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?

Resort chic: light fabrics, linen, summer dresses or shirts, with a layer for the evening breeze. Most yachts ask guests to go barefoot or wear soft, flat soles on deck; Odyssia confirms the rule for your yacht.

Can I wear heels on a yacht?

Usually not on deck: most yachts ask for bare feet or soft, flat soles to protect the teak. Bring flats or sandals for on board.

Is it cold at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December?

Not cold, but cooler after sunset, especially on the water. Bring a light jacket or sweater for the evening sessions and the concerts.

Should I bring earplugs to the Grand Prix?

Yes. Formula 1 cars are loud, especially close to the track, and earplugs make the day more comfortable.
